Spatial Experience

Spatial experience in an art context refers to the importance of space as part of the artwork. It also emphasises that the audience is an active participant in installations and performance based art. Artists who are interested in the spatial experience of their work often create 3D forms such as installations, fibre art, wearable art and body adornment which are displayed in natural, urban and public spaces. Digital media such as film, animation, sound art and electronic imaging are also mediums explored through spatial construction.

I am interested in wearable art and am inspired by the work of 'Psycho Girlfriend', a collaborative effort from artists Vanessa Bonet and Kasey McMahon. Below are some of their pieces:








These artists are interested in links between the technological and natural, as well as exposing the viewer to unfamiliar and uncomfortable situations.
