My Piece

I have decided to create a wearable piece using the idea of an artist book. This piece will be in the form of a choker (necklace) and will focus on the fragility of pregnancy. I have been inspired by Brown's work, and also my sister who is currently pregnant.

The pages of this 'book' will be shaped as a stylised womb and will have a height of approximately 5cm, as drawn below:

I am currently interested in combining screen printing and etching within this piece to print development images from within the womb. These images should be printed in white and very light pink to emphasise the concept of fragility and femininity. 

I will use stonehenge paper for this work as it is able to be printed on without the paper rippling with the paint.  This will hold its shape well.

I have sketched how the wearable 'book' will look once it is completed. The piece will be constructed from a long piece of the stonehenge paper, which will be folded in a concertina style. This is shown below:
